Also, Troy Beaumont Hospital has been another organization we have donated our time and support to. At the Celebration of Life Picnic held on behalf of those battling with breast cancer, we have displayed our vehicles privately for the patients and family members to enjoy. We also host a needy family at Christmas that have children with health problems. This years receipient was a mom with four mentally challenged children in Clinton Twp.

Since the foundation of the Motor City Street Rodders we have enjoyed raising money for charities, pioneering new activities along the way and enjoying the Camaraderie of fellow members. Thank you for visiting our website and showing interest in our organization. If you would like to make comments or contact us please e-mail us.

Thank you again for your support.

Just like the classic cars it features, it appears The North Gratiot Car Cruise's rocky start is a thing of the past.
Rex Beasaw, Motor City Street Rodders Car Club president and a cruise organizer, said he was happy with the turnout of last Wednesday's meeting at Dimitri's Restaurant.
"It looks like we'll raise enough money," he said.
Beasaw said there are enough monetary commitments to continue on with the event and is pleased with the amount of enthusiasm received for the cruise.
This is the seventh year for the cruise, which because of lack of support was on hiatus last year.
Beasaw said they need to raise a minimum of $10,000, all of which will be donated to Macomb County K-9 programs. Beasaw and fellow cruise planner Ken Novik are both shooting to raise $20,000.
One business that has made a commitment to help raise money for the K-9 program is Total Health Systems.
"We thought it would be good to do something local," Marketing Director Ann Gallagher said. She said the Clinton Township-based company is happy to help raise money for the cruise.
The business is kicking off its fund-raising efforts during the grand opening of their new location on 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township. The event, which is being catered by CranksL Catering, will feature K-9 unit demonstrations. The Chesterfield Fire Department will have a set up and will also feature an area for parents to have child identification cards made.

Beasaw said individuals who want to support the cruise can donate money at various locations throughout the community by purchasing a paw. He said some banks and restaurants are already on board and any interested businesses can participate.

Novik said he is organizing the parade, which will take place on cruise day, Aug 24. He said he's even trying to see if a fly-by can be arranged from Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

car There have been countless studies done to prove it, but virtually everyone knows that spending quality time with a kid is the greatest gift you can give them. And sharing your appreciation for collector cars is a great way to nurture their interest in a hobby that you can enjoy together for many years to come.

We are all constantly reminded of a kids need to express themselves. What better way to help them do that, than to nurture their appreciation for an interesting and different collector vehicle?

carKids can even start small, with posters, toys, and model kits. Soon you may discover them pouring over your old collection of car magazines. Then they are on their way, dreaming of their own future collector cars.

Hopefully one day you will find yourself with an eager companion in your garage, soaking up your knowledge and years of experience in this exciting hobby. You may even find your own enthusiasm invigorated, as you watch the development of young, wide-eyed interest in the hobby you have enjoyed for years. Talk about an opportunity to bond with a kid, this may be your best chance! For while a youngsters music choices and video games may be alien to you, their interest in a Mustang, Cuda, Corvette, or Model A Ford can be right up your alley. And every time a youngster helps to apply a coat of wax, change a set of brake shoes, install a new tail lamp lens, or perform a simple tune-up, they will begin to experience a growing sense of pride and accomplishment.

Teaching a youngster to appreciate something as special as a collector car is a terrific way to communicate strong values of respect for all things, to help them understand the value of our history and our culture. And they will quickly learn positive ways to express themselves, perhaps even with a special car or truck that matches their own personal style.

Who knows how far it might go? Your young companion may grow up to be a talented restorer, or racecar driver, or even an executive in the performance automotive aftermarket industry.
